Description |
Dr Carnes was born in Ft. Worth Texas in 1909. He received his B.S. from Columbia in 1932 and his M.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1936. He was Assistant Resident and Pathologist at City Hospitals, Baltimore from 1936-1938, Associate Pathologist at the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins, 1938-1939, Instructor at Columbia 1939-1941, Assistant Professor at Stanford, 1941-1945, Associate Professor 1945-1947. He was Assistant Professor at Hopkins 1947-1950 and Associate Professor 1950-51. He returned to Stanford as Professor 1951-1956. Dr Carnes came to the University as Professor of Pathology and Head of the Department which he headed from 1956-1968. He left Utah to go to UCLA as Professor in 1968 and chief of the Division of General pathology until his transition to Emeritus Professor in 1977. Dr Carnes died in 1987. |
