Subject Depression; Probiotics; Gut-Brain Axis; DNP
Description Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a psychological state characterized by a "low" mood. This state can affect cognition, behaviors, feelings, and one's overall sense of well-being. It is estimated that more than 264 million people suffer from MDD globally, and there are approximately 800,000 suicide deaths yearly linked to depression. These findings suggest there may be other mechanisms implicated in the etiology of depression. The intent of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of an online probiotic educational presentation. The target population include clinicians and student clinicians in the setting of academia, primary care, mental health, or any other clinical setting where treatment for depression is offered.
