Description |
The colors of the flag are modernized with more subdued tones: Ochre represents the friendliness and joy found in Utah and more closely resembles the actual tones found in the desert landscape. Blue represents the prosperity and determination of Utah's citizens both historic and present. The white background represents the clean slate that newcomers have as they join the Utah community. The upwards diagonal of the design symbolizes growth and prosperity, with the jagged peaks calling to mind the mountainous landscapes throughout the state. A hexagon references the Beehive State with a simpler geometry, and strengthens the landscape aesthetic of the flag by mimicking a sun in the sky. The diagonal design also displays well without a breeze, with the white, blue, and ochre stacking vertically above one another. |
