Abstract Gerald Smith was born in 1919 in Snowflake, Arizona. He worked at the family dairy until joining the Army Air Corps in January 1942. He washed out of pilot training due to airsickness and enlisted in the Navy, serving as a hospital corpsman with Mobile Unit 7 in New Caledonia. He then trained other corpsman in San Francisco. He was discharged in December 1945. 47 pages.
