Description The colors and design evoke the beautiful and diverse geography of Utah. Reminding us to build on the past, look forward to the future, and celebrate our diversity. I also have carried over the symbolisms of the Sego Lily and the Beehive and with that the importance to work together, and Utah's resilience. The alternating red stripes represent the red rock features of Southern Utah. The sedimentary layers of red rock remind us that we as a state are built upon the history of others, the varying thickness of the lawyers represent the diversity of Utah. The blue lawyers represent snow-capped mountain ranges throughout Utah the pair of blue lines are symbolic of the fact you can often see mountains in the distance beyond those immediately in front of you, reminding us that there are great heights to be reached in our future. The flag makes use of "Old Glory Blue and Red" to complement the American Flag that it will fly along with. The beehive has long been a symbol of our state and our commitment to working together. The skep (dome-shaped) beehive is immediately recognized by Utahns as representing the state. The Sego Lily has been a significant symbol for multiple peoples including the Native American traditions pre-dating the Utah territory, to many it represents resilience. The symbols are biased to the left of the flag placing most of the beehive in the "canton area" of the flag so it will more likely be visible when the flag hangs in low wind.
