Description The flag is a solid dusty or dirty orange/brown (such at Pantone 1385) that evokes both the mighty sandstone features of Utah and its desert climate. The field is divided on the left by a solid vertical black strip leaving approximately 6 parts to the right and 1 to the left of the strip signifying the importance to citizens of 6 days of work and 1 one rest. 29 white stars also run vertical within the strip representing all 29 counties in the State. A central motif replicates the imagery of the Eagle Gate in Salt Lake City, A single star to represent the Capitol City, A beehive representing the industry, cooperative nature and volunteerism of the citizens past and present. The Eagle stylized in a basic form so that it may represent many things, chiefly the native Ute tribe from which the name of the state derives, but also the spiritual connections of other native tribes to the land. The basic eagle form may also evoke comparison to the "lesser eagles" or California Gulls which have been credited for aiding the early settlers of European descent in the State.
