The white represents the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as peace; the gold represents the honeybee, a core symbol of the state. The blue represents America and statehood. In the top left corner is the sego, state flower of Utah which fed the Utah native Americans and the first pioneers to Utah. The four stars represent four eras in Utah's history which contributed to her current culture: the first, the pre-Columbian era of the Native Americans, the second, Spanish colonization, the third, Latter Day Saints settlement, and the fourth, American statehood.
