"The navy field found above and below the white broken line, represents Utahs culture of Work, Justice, and freedom. Utahs industry is represented with the blue beehive found at the center base of the flag. The blue also represents the many lakes and rivers found in utah, as well as the mountains that traverse the state. The white broken line literally gives the appearance of snow capped mountains. The broken line also represents the cultural differences of all the people of utah. Each culture is pure and has the freedom to live free in this great state. The white also represents the natural resources of utah. The public lands and the freedom that the people of utah have to use them. The rust panel along the base of the flag represents the red rocks found in the south of the state. This is in direct contrast with the blue snow capped mountains found in the north of the state. The color represents history. Utahs rich history is the very foundation of the state. The rust from the red rocks dominates the visual appearance of the rocks. Just like the history of utah dominates its appearance to people who do not live in Utah."
