Description This design is intended as a modern interpretation of the traditional flag of The State of Utah. The colors are meant to represent the same meaning as those listed in the description found at the following link: https://www.states101.com/flags/utah The midnight blue represents justice, perseverance, and vigilance, as it always has, and was copied directly from the model provided in the link. The hexagonal symbol is meant to represent the cell of a beehive. This harkens back to that classical symbol of our state, while also reminding us that we are part of a greater whole, of our republic, and of our planet, and shall work tirelessly to embrace and build upon the works of others, as they, in turn, embrace and build upon ours. The hexagon, while representing the cell of a beehive, also calls to mind one of the most robust polygons that can be formed in nature. Just as bees evolved to build their homes using the most ingenious solution that can be achieved under their physical circumstance, so to must we act with ingenuity to ensure our prosperity. The outer shell of this cell copies the color of the outer ring of the original flag design, copied directly from the above link. It represents the sun, wealth, and generosity, as stated. Just inside of the shell sits a cog. This is meant to symbolize Industry: our State motto. Just inside of the cog rests a golden brown color, copied directly from the beehive found on the design in the link. It represents the hard work and diligence of our people. The inner star represents our statehood. Further symbolism is intended as an interplay between these colors: It is only through hard work, diligence, and ingenuity, that we can drive industry and create our wealth and, in turn, what may produced to define the potential of our generosity. Inside sits the star of our state, which will rise or fall in perpetuity with how we maintain the values symbolized by the cell which surrounds it.
