Description "The upper band of white evokes the frosted tops of Utah's high mountain peaks, and the source of much of its water. The lower red band is a nod to the unique geology associated with much of the southern parts of our great state. The blue band in the middle that joins the two is reminder of the preciousness of our water resources, and our collective need to keep them pure. The red, white, and blue are also an homage to the United States of America as a whole. The Golden Diamond in the center of the flag evokes a symbolism of Utah itself, and its great citizens, as being a rare gem in the context of the overall United States. The equilateral nature of the Golden Diamond, a rhombus shape, represents the equality and oneness of all of Utah's citizens, from north to south to east to west. The corners of the diamond intersect unseen in the middle at perfect right angles to each other, such that all of Utah's citizens can find ways to meet in the middle despite the differences between us. * The top half of the diamond hints at Utah's alpenglow sunsets reminding us that sun can still shine upon our state even when long past the horizon, while the bottom half reminds of of the beauty, sacredness, and immense value our unique canyons."
