White sego lily on blue circle within a red cross on white

"This flag features a red cross centered on a white background. The red cross is often referred to as the St. George's Cross, and is the national flag of England. This cross was chosen because as the St. George's cross it gives a nod to one of Utah's prominent pioneer communities (St. George). More importantly, this particular cross recognizes the oversized role that pioneers from the British Isles played in the settlement of Utah. Further, the use of a cross acknowledges Utah's role as the Crossroads of the West (as depicted on the reverse of the Utah Commemorative Quarter) and as Utah's emerging role as a crossroads for industry (such as the inland port, &c.). There is a blue circle in the center of the flag with a white sego lily. The sego lily is a widely known symbol for Utah, invoking memories of the state's founding, particularly the fact that early Utah pioneers relied on the sego lily bulb as a food source during the cricket plague in the early days of Deseret."
