Description A golden quaking aspen leaf, fallen from Pando, one of the largest living single organisms on the planet and a Utah native, is the main symbol. It represents beauty in change (gold being its autumn color) and the importance of being a part of something older and stronger than oneself (representative of an individual within our community, as well as Utah within the U.S.A). The shield is blue to remind us our Utah history (the same gold and blue colors are taken from the old Utah flag). The leaf and shield are in front of Utah's diverse landscape (from bottom to top): the red rock lands of the south, the tall Rocky mountains throughout the state (reminiscent of quartzite, the rock comprising much of the Uinta mountains), and lastly a white field on top, representing our famous Great Salt Lake and famous snowy slopes.
