The white top represents the snow for Utah having the greatest snow on earth and how Utah can be a clean slate and a safe place for its citizens. The red mountains represent the mountains of utah, the red color for the University of Utah and the heat of the desert. The blue color represents the great Salt Lake, BYU and cold winters. The contrast between the red and the blue highlights the diverse weather (with Utah sporting all four seasons), diverse opinions between political groups and the ability to have differing opinions but still coming together to make something beautiful, opposing sporting teams and the thrill of healthy competition and the beautiful nature utah has to offer with the contrast between barren desert, the lush forests and many lakes. The beehive represents the beehive state, but also represents the people of Utah and how we all work collaboratively together to make our great state all that it can be. Also, the placement of the beehive on the mountain represents capitol hill at the top of state street and how it is a central location for all citizens to be heard and represented.
