This collection of documents includes a letter from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs to the Secretary of the Interior in which McLaughlin describes conditions on the reservations and the lack of enrollment in Indian schools. In a separate letter, Commissioner Jones describes confrontation between Ute Indians and reservation agents and recommends troops be stationed at Ft. Duchesne in order to force compliance with education laws |
