Description An explanation is proposed for spontaneous magnetism in the material, "carbon nanofoam," in terms of random ferrimagnetism. Wherever a carbon nanotube branches out, an electron trap is created at the junction. Electrons occupying neighboring junctions align their spins antiparallel.
