Description University of Utah Health has decided to consider the pursuit of Magnet accreditation as of December 2021 (S. Taylor, personal communication, December 7, 2021). The first step in the Magnet accreditation journey is conducting a gap analysis (Drenkard, 2010; Graystone, 2018b). Therefore, the specific aim of this project was to conduct a gap analysis related to UUH's organizational readiness to apply for Magnet accreditation. In order to meet the goal and guide planning, the gap analysis included: 1. Determining current standards and required elements of the four components of the Magnet framework; 2. Creating assessment tools based on current standards; 3. Locate sources of evidence to document the current status relative to the standards; 4. Perform a gap analysis to inform decision-making regarding the pursuit of Magnet accreditation. With this information, UUH would decide if they wish to design a plan based on the findings from the gap analysis and pursue Magnet accreditation.
