Description |
A full-width red pennon shape separated from the navy blue background by a strip of white. Within the red pennon lies five five-pointed stars, 0.33 inches wide and tall on a 3x5" flag. The negative space betwixt the stars forms a pentagon, 0.5 inches wide and tall. The Navy Blue, whose hex code is 002868ff (Identical to the shade of blue on the current Utahan Flag), represents the grand bodies of water of the Beehive State, as well as the vast open skies of the most beautiful state in the USA. The Red color, known as "Old Glory Red" (the shade of red used on the American Flag [b31942]), represents the stunning red rocks of Utah. The bands of white that separate the flag's most distinctive colors represents the massive salt flats of Utah; amongst the largest in the world. The Pennon shape represents Utah's progress towards further greatness as well as the towering natural high rises throughout the state that have become one of her most iconic features. The five five-pointed stars represent the five Native American tribes present in the state as well as Utah's five national parks. The pentagonal negative space between the stars could be interpreted to represent Utah's state flower, the Sego Lily. |
