Description |
U symbolizes Utah. Black and yellow represents a bee (a cute bee bottom). The notch at the top alludes to a beehive (I know it's upside down, but so is our political culture). Red stripe represents the red rocks of southern Utah. White stripe is the greatest snow on Earth. All of these colors represent the Medicine Wheel in Native American culture. The bee stripes are also divided into 8 sections to recognize the 8 federally recognized tribes in Utah. The U and bee also are in the shape of a shield to symbolize the states duty to protect its citizens. |
