This design includes the navy, red, and gold reminiscent of the original Utah state flag. The diagonals meeting in the middle represent the cultures and ideas of the people of our state all meeting here in the spirit of coming together for the greater good. The gold circle represents the golden spike sitting in the crossroads of the west, but also the circle within in the circle represents wagon wheels of pioneers as well as a location marker of "this is the place." The compass rose is representative of knowing the way, the direction the state is headed: cultures and ideas melding as one in the middle and then going forth from this place to make the world a better place. The Top blue triangle represents our skies and our lakes, the bottom blue triangle represents our mountains-where the skies/heavens meet the earth-and the two red triangles represent our great and beautiful deserts.
