Description |
My design for the new Utah flag is deeply symbolic. The black and yellow halves represent two directions in Native American culture. The black represents the West and the yellow represents the East. The railroad tracks in between the two halves represent the Transcontinental railroad, which was completed in Utah. The gold-colored circle symbolizes the gold spike which was driven in to the Transcontinental Railroad in Promontory, Utah, to finish its construction. The spike is also symbolized by the gold dot in the outline of the state of Utah. In conclusion, my flag represents how Utah brought the East and West halves of the nation together and played an important role in reunifying our nation after the Civil War. |
