Description |
The wing on the flag represents many different things, one of the things it represents is the first two groups of people in Utah. The wing can represent the Native Americans in Utah because in Native American culture the bird typically represents the ability to move throughout the realms of earth and sky and feathers attached to clothing also have particular meaning. The wing represents how the pioneers coming into Utah came here despite the hardships, and how they found freedom (wings and flying often represent freedom) to live their lives. The last thing that the wing represents is how Utah will continue to fly high so that everyone in the state can feel free, accepted, and have room to grow and fly individually as well. The colors blue and green also represent the identity of the state and how it will continue to grow and change. Blue often represents open spaces, freedom, trust, imagination, inspiration, and stability all things that are deeply rooted in the state's character and that Utah strives to help everyone in the state understand and feel. Typically, green represents nature, which is an important part of Utah, not only because it brings in many visitors (for its amazing beauty and ability to evoke special emotions), but because it is truly part of what makes Utah, Utah. The way that the wing is white and almost seems like empty space among the colors represents how Utah will continue to grow and change to be the best state it can be. I think that this flag is a good representation of the state's identity and why it is special. |
