Description |
This flag design is supposed to evoke the image of Utah's geography, especially as seen from space. From above, the state is characterized by three distinct geographical regions- the western Great Basin, the central Wasatch Mountains, and the eastern red rock desert. The tan, purple, and orange of the design represents these regions, respectively. The beehive in the central represents the people and history of Utah- whose placement also alludes to the capital and concentration of Utahns along the Wasatch front. The purple can also be interpreted to represent Utah's iconic dark skies, and the orange the pride of our state's five national parks. |
