"Utah means, People of the Mountains. The Utah mountains are something that all of us that live and have lived in Utah have in common. The Utes, the pioneer settlers, people that live here now, and the people that will live in Utah in the future all have enjoyed and relied on the Utah mountains. The mountains on this flag are half snow and half bare, symbolizing all that the mountains provide for us. These mountains provide us with beauty, necessities like water, and recreational activities including (but not limited to) hiking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, etc. The main colors of the flag are red, white, and blue, showing that we as Utahn's are proud to also be a part of the United States of America. The Gold circle in the middle symbolized eternity, the eternity of our great state going forth, and the eternity of our mountains, past, present and future. No matter what part of the state we are from, no matter our race, sex, or religion, the mountains are something that anyone in living in Utah has in common. The mountains are what people in other states and countries come to see. We in Utah are ALL the people of the mountains!" |
