Description |
The white represents Utah's mountain ranges, the "Greatest Snow on Earth", the Bonneville Salt Flats, and the continued progress towards a brighter future that Utahns contribute to every day. The gold represents the natural beauty of the land that Utah exists on, the 5 national parks of our state, and the opportunities that the people of Utah have in the present. The blue represents the major bodies of water of our state (ex. the Great Salt Lake, Utah Lake, Bear Lake, etc.), the rivers that run through it, and the lessons of the past, and its effects on our present and future. The collection of stars represents the official State Astronomical Symbol, the Beehive Cluster. It also associates itself with the theme of progress as it is colored white and is an astronomical object, of which space exploration and the stars can be attributed to continued progress. The cross represents Utah's status as the "Crossroads of the West". |
