Description |
The flag has two colors: red as an approximation of Utah's famous rock formations, and white, for its world-class snow. The beehive is for the state's nickname and, of course, represents industry. The four white stripes represent the four periods of the state's history: the era of the indigenous peoples, American settlement and the proposed state of Deseret, the Utah Territory, and the State of Utah. |
