This research uses the arts, creative expression, and alterative paradigms to facilitate spaces of healing, empowerment to as a tool of resilience and resistance against white, patriarchal, and other oppressive gazes. By executing this creative expression workshop series, this research offers valuable insight to the intersectional experiences of Womxn and Femmes of Colour and how intentional and exclusive designated spaces to gather and heal are key to building spaces of healing, empowerment, validation, and connection. An emphasis and combination of alternative paradigms such as Indigenous knowledges combined with the arts provided an avenue for Womxn and Femmes of Colour to process their experiences, connect with other Womxn and Femmes, and learn tools to facilitate radical social and self-transformation. The workshop series and the art activities utilized within this research illustrates how the arts, Indigenous knowledge, and alternative; paradigms can create designated spaces for healing and empowerment for Womxn and Femmes of Colour outside of oppressive and dominant gazes and influences.
