First the union blue field represents vigilance, justice, and perseverance according to custom and tradition. It also signifies is belonging to the republic. The stars represent the counties and the gold circle represents the unity and prosperity of our state as well as the bounteous resources, it is also a visual nod of the design of the current state flag. The sego lily represents peace (as does its color, white) along with purity and innocence. The sego lily has 3 broad petals and three narrow sepals that can be seen between the petals. The three sepals protect the flower before it blooms and they signify the three beloved geological regions of the state: the Rocky Mountains, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau. The three broad pedals signify the beautiful and bright peoples of this state: the pioneers, the indigenous people, and the many groups of immigrants who have come to this state over its history. The flower has six anther (part of the stamen) that represent the six native tribes, and the three-sided stigma at the center that represents God, Family, and Country.
