Upper half- Blue sky because in Utah the Sky is the limit in innovation and creativity. Lower half -Amber represents the deserty landscape that covers most of the state. Beehive and Bees to represent Utah industriousness The seagull carrying a cricket represents an important time in Utah's history when the early settlers were saved by divine providence. The state flower the sego lily Karl E. Fordham's poem "Sego Lily" portrayed the plant as an image of home, mercy, freedom, and peace. It's bulb-like roots also were deemed by Western Indians a great delicacy. They taught the Mormon pioneers to use the bulb for badly needed food. The roads coming from every direction to the center represent the people that come to Utah from the four corners of the globe to see our three pillars of Service, Integrity, Excellence (represented by the three lines).
