Description
Presenting Symptom: vertigo; imbalance. 2-11-80: Pt seen at JHH with David Zee. Sx began 10-12 yrs ago with vertigo on defecation, hearty laughing, sneezing, or with anger. Devel an ataxic gait. Increasing recently. Diagnosis mad of Arnold Chiari on basis of myelogram and pt had a decompression which relived the SX on sneezing etc but did not change the unsteadiness. Exam of eyes shows Hz nyst. And less conspic. vert. nyst. VIDEO. Case will be pres. by Dr. Zee at Boston. Clinical Signs: vertical and horizontal nystagmus, poorly sustained; cogwheel pursuit; arcuate dysmetric movement; normal saccades. Treatment: surgery. Disease/ Diagnosis: Arnold Chiari Malformation
