Team sports have not been widely researched especially in the United States. Team sports have a lot of potential benefits from decreased aggression, increased social skills, increased inclusion and positive peer interactions. This research sought to; explore if behavior changed in K-3 special education students participating in a team sports intervention. My intervention was a 12-week soccer intervention with six total soccer sessions. In my study I took observational data, interviewed classroom teacher, and gave case study students a self-assessment on their behaviors to answer my research questions. It emerged that social skills increased, aggression decreased in the general education classroom, student's self-perception changed, and students grew to be more compassionate. |
