Dr Ambati received his M.D. degree from Mount Sinai Medical College (at age 17) in 1995. Dr Ambati complete his residency in ophthalmology at Harvard University. Dr Ambati completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Duke University in 2002. Dr Ambati joined the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia in 2002 where he practiced clinical ophthalmology and conducted research in corneal angiogenesis. Dr Ambati donates his time overseas on missions with ORBIS, a nonprofit organization with a Flying Eye Hospital, on which Dr. Ambati has operated and trained local surgeons in Ghana and Malaysia. From 2008 to 2016, Dr Ambati was director of cornea research and explored the molecular mechanisms of corneal neovascularization at the John Moran Eye Center. |
