DAY ONE: The Utah distance medley group led the way for the Utes with a strong fourth place finish while three Utes record new bests and join all-time top-10 lists at Utah. The Utah distance medley team captured a fourth-place finish with a time of 11:41.53. Competing in the distance medley for the Utes was junior Caitlin Faust, freshman Whitney Hessler, senior Grace Englund, and senior Hannah McInturff. In the 200-meter dash event, freshman Jackie Martin and senior Raynee Helm Wheelock competed for Utah. Martin finished in 14th with a time of 25.65. With this time, Martin set a new indoor lifetime best and placed her 10th all time at Utah in the 200-meter. Wheelock captured 33rd place with a time of 26.43. Moving on to the 5,000-meter race, seniors Louise Mercer and Jessica Sams represented the Utes. Mercer led the way finishing in 34th place with a time of 16:40.01. This time is a new lifetime best for Mercer, toping her previous best by 30 seconds and has placed her fourth all time at Utah in this event. Sams also set a new personal record with a time of 16:55.21 and is now sixth all time at Utah in the 5,000-meter race. Sams finished in 42nd place. |
