Description
Alicia Suazo discusses growing up in Utah and gaining fluency in Spanish after studying it in college. She talks about her father's military service and work, and expectations in the family home. Suazo recounts becoming more politically active when she was in college and her work as an educator in Title I schools. Suazo also discusses the impact of growing up in a primarily LDS community. She discusses differences in terminology and meaning regarding being Chicana and New Mexican.
