The letters mainly touched on various private matters not connected with his work as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. Includes a series of letters involving Mr. Eccles, Senator Elbert Thomas, and Charles L. Smith, President of First National Bank of Utah regarding Smith's son-in-law, Captain Don M. Curtis, who was serving in the Medical Corps. Smith describes the conditions under which Capt. Curtis was left idle in the South Pacific and unable to properly use his skills. |
