Eost of t he back numbers are available on reque st. * * * * Our readers are used .to getting ,Ch rist mas news at Eastertide, and vice versa, so we start with this jingle of a carol: On the fourth day of Christmas my true love said to me, "IVe have no water, nor ·e-lec-trici-teel" Bow true. I 0, the well hadn't gone dry-but since an elec~ trica11y powered punp sends the water from t he well into the great iron tank, half-way up the mesa, the power failure waa also t~e water-failure. The s adest part of it was that we had to say ~o to the dozens ' of fa.milies who came with their empty barrels. But good old N T' u S sent lime-men nnd in a few hours all 'vas well again. (Hore about ChriRtmas below.) 'I'hose of you who read our past Hessages ,viII remember Sarah Hutchins who is mentioned in ~ll. Sarah was baptised '''hen over 100 years old; instruction had to be given through a woman interpreter, as she barely hears a woman's voice , a man's not at all. Bishop Charles visited her in her hogan and confirmed h e r, as pictured in #11. A zealous charislnatic preacher found her, laid hands on her for the healing of deafness--a gift God apparently granted as the mini ster ' s i n terpreter told her the Gos pel Story--they thought, "for the first ti me". She is p i ctur ed herewi t h with olle of her many gn:~at-great-grand children. Father Hultgren when on a visit here went to see her and pl~ay with her--she took his hand in both of her s , felt it carefully, and said "That's not the priest"--her relelt ives assureo her it was another priest, one from far a'Ylay, and she was pleo.sed . He t ell you t h:i.s story to show her keen sense of touch, and her aler t mi.n0. On March 6th the Lord took her to Himself--a clear case of baptismal g r ~c e continuing till death. She was buried from our church (the first chu rch funeral ' v-e have had ) which was filled to capacity. She is survived by t wo d~lght er s , 16 grand-children, 82 great-grand children and 9 great, greatgrand chi ldren, as far as we cou ld determine. She is at peace. Space does not per mit telling in detail abou t our diocesan priests' r e treat at the ci stercian Abbey in Hunt sville, 'Ct., but join us in thanks for the great expe r iEnc,~ . '['on Gregory Re id, Abbot of o u r own Benedictines at Three ldvers, Lich" cOJ!ducted it , and as a long-ti me friend of Fr Liebler led us here in a s hort retreat ~ Both wer e of t h e (rather new) "directed" retreats, as against the " preached" retreats \,'e have formerly experienced. Ou r l ast ~~ssage told o f Fr Lieble r's ordination anniversary--rulnors seep t h ro\1gh that. many of the Utah clergy plan to be vii th him on his nex t, and sixtieth , anrdversary on the 4th of October; perhaps some from Colorado and Arizona will join them.
