This photograph is a copy of the original and is in fairly good condition. On the back of the photo, inscribed in pen, is: "Walter Wilbert McKirahan," "Walter Wilbert McKirahan," "1917-1926". There is also yellow adhesive brushed onto the back of the photo. McKirahan served as the Dean of Westminster College from 1917 to 1926, during which he oversaw the landscaping of the campus and also served as a Professor of Chemistry and Philosophy. McKirahan was born in 1880 and was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. He received an A.B. from Muskingum College, an A.M. and Ph.D. from Columbia University, as well as a Utah State High School Teacher's Diploma. Before serving as the Dean of Westminster College, McKirahan was a teacher and principal to numerous Utah schools and was also a chemistry professor at Columbia University. After serving for nine years as Dean, he resigned to become a professor of Philosophy at Muskingum College, his alma mater. Three years later McKirahan passed away, to the sadness of all who knew him. |
