Description |
In Nov., 1869, six months after the U.P. and Central Pacific railroads joined at Promontory, Ogden's first Union Depot was constructed. It was built of crude boards and paointed a violent red and offered few comforts. However, it was used for 20 years. In 1887 a new building was constructed. The corner stone was laid Nov. 3, 1888 and it was completed in 1889. Feb. 14, 1923 the entire south wing and tower section of the depot went up in flames. In November of the same year, the third Union Depot, still servicing the Ogden Terminal, was opened to the public. Gift of: M. J. Burson. |
