The nuclei of the trigeminal nerve may be considered as three separate units: (a) the motor nucleus (special visceral efferent); (b) the sensory mesencephalic nucleus (general somatic afferent); and (c) the sensory nuclear complex, actually composed of two distinct nucleithe main sensory nucleus and the nucleus of the spinal tract (general somatic afferent). |
