Show " - . • ' f" much greater activity this year than ever before. In case the Office seeks amendrtenttta the Aot of March 2, 1907 (34 Stats. I. 1221) with a view of making available shares of able, bodied Indians for industrial purposes, I.am-quite convinced that discretion should be placed with, the Department as to whether such shares should issue in whole or in part. For example,' if a fund the size of the judgment recently rendered in favor of these Indians, namely,' $3,305,000.00,l should become available, under this Act it would undoubtedly be much to the detriment of the Indians if they were allowed to draw full shares. On the other hand it would be possible for the Office -and the Offioer in charge to use such a fund to their upbuilding, if a proper portion thereof could be drawn instead of the whole share. Very respectfully,^ • CLD/WJZ Supervisor of Farming in Charge. |
