This letter is from J.L. Smith to Brigham Young. In this letter, Smith offers help in the form of cash and supplies to the settlers of Salt Lake. Smith also informed Young of the problems that the settlers of Fort Bridger had with nearby Indians. According to Smith, an Indian came to him with the purpose of attacking, but after Smith pledged "his life to them" the Indians became friendly. |
