Description Aspergillus is a ubiquitous mold that is found throughout the world and that not uncommonly produces human disease. The fungus grows particularly well on stored hay, grain, decaying vegetation, soil, and dung. Patients may become infected simply by inhaling or chewing infected grain seeds, by being in a hospital that is undergoing renovation, or by eating contaminated foods such as dietary pepper.
