Title |
UNIVERSITY PHYSICIANS PERFORM NONSURGICAL TREATMENT OF UTERINE FIBROIDS OR TUMORS |
Description |
University of Utah Hospital physicians have begun treating benign tumors called fibroids in the uterus by using small synthetic particles to cut off the tumors' blood supply, causing them to shrink and die. This minimally-invasive procedure, called uterine fibroid embolization, replaces surgical approaches to tumor removal, which can include a hysterectomy. |
