One of the cow boys had something kike a gripsack which he opened and o&Z part of the cor; boys came loohcda-t it and then went ray, others came and look in to it. this was done twice, The last tine late in the after noon; what was in the sack I cannot tell. Pretty soon after they cxamin od the sack tiie last tine tin; trouble began J. became fearful that they were going to do harirn and began to cry and ran away over tiie hill and soon as I got behind the hill I hoard tho fiixlngc4t no time while I ras standing near the cow boys did I see. .any guns or pistols in the hands o of the Indians and when I started away the Indians had no gunJin their hadns. I stayed away until the firing ceased and then cane back and found the Indians there and my nephew dead lying on his back.
