Show 2 . News of the sudden death of Philip Berton, of Lorn bard, Ill., was a sad blow, as he and his wife planned to join the Staff this Spring. Our sympathy goes out to his family. As Katy was also planning to teach - and this tragedy has perforce changed her plans it leaves us with not two, as we hoped, t eachers, but none at all. If anyone sees a stray teacher floating around, pack her up and send her along, as there are about seven weeks of school left, and another year coming. I MIEDICAL work continues to expand. Doc-tors continue to fly or drive in periodically for clinics. Although as of this writing we have no permanent occupant for the doctor's house, we do have more frequent ministrations. This means that X-rays can be read reas'onably soon after taking. February was a high month with 36 admissions in 28 days. This increased medical activity increases the strain on our budget - perhaps some groups, seeking a worthy project, would like to supply film for X-ray and medications much needed. One of the February babies is known as the "Million Dollar Baby". Mother was looking fondly at her when a bystander said, "I'll give you a million dollars for that baby." An explosive "No!" put an end to the deal. |
