P-557-420-8456 Glen Canyon Unit, Colorado River Storage Project, Arizona-Utah. GLEN CANYON AREA & COLORADO RIVER (General). The ferry at Hite conveys an automobile across the Colorado River, looking downstream. This ferry, which was installed in 1946, will soon be flooded out by the rise of Lake Powell. It will be replaced by a bridge across Narrow Canyon above the mouth of the Dirty Devil. This ferryboat is operated by an old automobile engine. 5/24/63 Bureau of Reclamation Photo by W.L. Rusho. |
