A number of pupils who showed signs pointing to tuberculosis of the lungs were sent home during the current year. How some of the children succumb to the disease will be shown from the following illustration, for which the writer is indebted to the school physician. In November, 1907, there were brought to the school 28 new Papago- pupils, an examination of whom showed that they were in good health. Before July, 1908, 5 of these pupils had already been sent back to the reservation on account of serious illness, pointing to tuberculosis. Two of those sent home have since died 71530- Bull. 42- 09 3 |
