Description |
Pseudotumor cerebri is a clinical syndrome characterized by increased intracranial pressure, the absence of an intracranial mass, normal or small sized ventricles onneuroimaging, cerebral spinal fluid with a normal composition, and papilledema. Ninety percent of the cases are idiopathic. The remaining 10% of the cases are associated with pharmacologic agents, endocrine disorders, systemic disorders or impaired cerebral venous outflow. Clinical presentations include headaches, nausea, vomiting, diplopia, and loss ofcentral and peripheral vision. Visual field changes include enlarged blind spots, arcuate defects, and cecocentral scotomas. Temporal defects, although reported are more rare. |
