Description | Hotel Vernal opened June 28, 1947. It was built at a cost of $350,000 and financed by a group of stockholders. The new hotel had sixty guest rooms, barber shop, beauty shop, a haberdashery, fountain, coffee shop and restaurant. Vernal's first radio station, KJAM, was housed in the basment. When it opened it was said to be the finest small hotel in the United States. The hotel was a place where officials and businessmen stayed when they came to town. |
