Show 113 inferior water-rigat sold under some cif tha ditches owned by the whites for that amount. Some Indian land, v^ry subtly improved has sold for $80.00 per acre, which would place tha total value of the project at $6,400,000. This would indicate that the true value of the Uintah Project would lie sanowhere between the upper and lower figures. The original value of tha land at §1.23 per aore, tho price sot by Congress, ia §100,000.00; while the construction cost of the project 13 #1,380,000. Thi3 places the first cost of the project at #1,480,000 „ If the present value ia §6,000„QC0, it indicates an actual incroase in value of §4,520,0COr or over 3C0 percent. The increase in value haa taken place within the last few years, and is entirely due to irrigation. The generally prosperous oondltinn of tha ranchers is ?l3o borne out by the fact that the total of the bank deposits of liyton, Bocsovelt ard Duchesne has increased fTora $191,000.00 in 1915, to (^721,000,00 in 1920 , in 3pite of the hard winter of 1919-20. While tho lessees of Indian land do no t cocstitute all the depositors, they fotm a vory fair proportion, an d the abovo can bo taken as cn index of the g<naral conditions. .' A : I.
