Senior Amy Tidwell qualified to compete in the NCAA outdoor championships in the 400 meters. Her time of 53.30 placed her first in the event and shattered the school record by three seconds. The NCAA qualifying mark was 53.40. Tidwell has already qualified to compete in the long jump at the NCAA championships in June. Elisha Kekacs set a personal best in the 400 meter hurdles. She too placed first in the event with a time of 1:02.16. The school record is 1:02.12.Other first place finishers for Utah were Stacey Rhineer in the triple jump (39'06.25") and Mindy Romig in the Javelin throw (148'03.00"). Utah's men dominated the 5,000 meter event. Dane Miller (15:15.60), Erik Vernon (15:25.73) and Adam Stark (15:57.63) were the top three finishers respectively. |
